         BASTET

The local deity of Bubastis in the eastern Nile Delta, Bastet was the daughter of Ra and the protective aspect of the aggressive lioness goddess Sekhmet. Her earliest form was as a woman with the head of lioness, but by the first millennium BC she appeared in the more gentle guise of a cat or a cat-headed women, sometimes accompanied by a group of kittens. The ancient town of Bubastis is the site of a red granite temple dedicated to Bastet, as well as a series of mud-brick cat cemeteries.

Bastet She was the Egyptian goddess of joy, music, celebration, dancing, and pleasure. To take part in a celebration at her temple in Bubastis, ensured the mental and physical health of the participants. She is a split personality, of sorts. A docile, mothering side who protects the home and mothers, and a ferocious, fiery side who comes out when in battle.

Bastet "Devouring Lady" (from bas, to devour, with feminine ending) Bast is first and foremost a protectress; specifically of the royal house and the Two Lands.  Egyptian goddess of the home, domesticity, women's secrets, cats, fertility, and childbirth. She protected the home from evil spirits and disease, especially diseases associated with women and children. As with many Egyptian deities, she also played a role in the afterlife as a guide and helper to the dead although this was not one of her primary duties. She was the daughter of the sun god Ra and is associated with the concept of the Eye of Ra (the all-seeing eye) and the Distant Goddess (a female deity who leaves Ra and returns to bring transfromation).

History of Perfume

The word perfume is derived from the Latin perfume, meaning "through smoke." The art of perfumery was known to the ancient Egyptians. References to perfumery materials and even perfume formulas are found in the Ancient Egyptian Burial sites, Tombs and in the Bible. The burning of incense in religious rites of ancient China, Palestine, and Egypt led gradually to the personal use of perfume known as attar's, widespread in ancient Greece and Rome. During the Middle Ages Crusaders brought knowledge of perfumery to Europe from the East. After 1500 Paris was the major center of perfume-making.
Today Egypt is still a major trading center for the perfume industry. We have teamed up with the best perfume trading houses in Egypt.
