This statue represents Horus in human form as a falcon mummified with ancient hieroglyphics and cartouches as well as ancient hieroglyphics around the edge of the base.

The falcon god Horus was regarded as the embodiment of devine kingship, and as early as the late fourth millennium BC, the pharaoh had a 'Horus name'. In Osirian mythology, Horas was in a long and arduous struggle with the evil god Seth to claim his rightful place as King of Egypt and avenge the murder of his father, Osiris. As a diety of the sky, Horus was associated with the sun and the moon, and seen as a god of the east and thus the sunshine. At his temple at Edfu in Upper Egypt, he was worshipped as part of a triad with his consort Hathor and their child Harsomtus.
